Clusters

Clusters are groups of companies and related organisations that collaborate to grow their business.  Using this collaborative team approach allows businesses, regions and interest groups to develop greater speed, quality, innovation and critical mass.  This assists in resolving practical issues like training, infrastructure and procurement.

Kapiti Horowhenua Clusters

Kapiti and Horowhenua have one of New Zealand's largest and most diverse concentrations of apparel, textile, footwear and carpet industries.  In the wider area, from Paraparaumu to Wanganui and Palmerston North, there are over 50 businesses that cover every aspect of the industry.

The Kapiti Horowhenua Apparel and Textile Industry Cluster Group is supported by Kapinua and Nature Coast Enterprise.  The group focuses on issues of mutual interest including training and marketing.  Kapinua is the company that is the face of this cluster.  Click here to view their web site.

A relevant organisation to this local cluster is Textiles New Zealand - an organisation that facilitates ways and means for individual companies to co-operate to compete in world markets.  There are four contributing sectors that make up the combined New Zealand textiles industry: Textiles, Carpet, Footwear, Apparel.  Together they comprise the whole textiles industry. Some may think there are few common issues but in reality there are more underlying similarities than differences.  Click here for more information about Textiles New Zealand.
